Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s reps have broken their silence on their split.
“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” reps for the pair said in a joint statement to Us Weekly on Thursday, July 3. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Us understands their separation was mutual and happened as far back as the beginning of the year.
Us previously confirmed that Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, called off their engagement after nearly a decade of dating.
“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source told Us in June. “It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
According to the source, Perry and Bloom’s split was “a long time coming” as things had been “tense for months” for the former couple.
The exes, who got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019, share 4-year-old daughter Daisy, whom they welcomed in August 2020. (Bloom is also father to 14-year-old son Flynn with ex Miranda Kerr.)
A source exclusively told Us at the time that Perry and Bloom were “still very much in touch” as they’re navigating their new family dynamic.
“They aren’t making drastic changes for Daisy’s sake,” the insider explained. “They will keep their lives in Montecito. They are prioritizing stability and consistency for Daisy.”
Perry was spotted with her daughter while the pop star continued her Lifetimes tour in Australia. While wrapping up her final show in Adelaide, South Australia, Perry had an emotional response to the crowd.
“Thank you for always being there for me, Australia,” Perry told the audience at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre while tearfully making a heart symbol with her hands. “It means the world.”
Perry is now back from her sold out Australia shows and she will return to the stage to perform in Denver on July 10.
Bloom, for his part, attended Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos’ star-studded wedding in Venice, Italy. He also cryptically posted a Buddhist teaching on social media about moving forward.
“The important thing is to take that first step,” the actor wrote via his Instagram Story on Monday, June 30. “Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.”
Days later, Bloom shared another inspirational quote about loneliness from the late psychiatrist Carl Jung.
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself,” the message read.
